Which booking and chat tools do contractor websites use?
Field-service software companies publish customer counts. Nobody publishes which tools actually show up on contractor websites, where a customer can see them. So we looked. Out of the 2,407 contractor homepages in our October 2026 website study, we recorded every known booking, chat, texting and review tool we could find in the page code.

How we counted
This uses the same sample as our contractor website study: 2,407 US plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, landscaping, painting, carpentry and general contractor homepages from OpenStreetMap across 21 states, each loaded in headless Chrome as an iPhone on October 27 and 28, 2026. Every homepage that showed any booking, chat or texting sign on the first pass was loaded again on October 28 and 29 and checked for the code or links of specific vendors.
The tools that showed up
| Tool | What it is | Sites | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceTitan | Field-service software, online scheduler | 148 | 6.1% |
| LeadConnector (GoHighLevel) | Marketing platform: chat, forms, calendars | 130 | 5.4% |
| Housecall Pro | Field-service software, online booking | 71 | 2.9% |
| Birdeye | Reviews and messaging | 29 | 1.2% |
| Podium | Messaging and reviews | 17 | 0.7% |
| Jobber | Field-service software, client hub | 15 | 0.6% |
| Calendly | Scheduling links | 15 | 0.6% |
| NiceJob | Review requests | 11 | 0.5% |
| Broadly | Reviews and web chat | 9 | 0.4% |
| LiveChat | Live chat | 8 | 0.3% |
| HubSpot chat | Live chat | 7 | 0.3% |
| Tawk.to | Free live chat | 6 | 0.2% |
Below those, Tidio and Acuity appeared on four sites each, Zendesk on three, and Square Appointments, Crisp, Setmore and FieldEdge on two each. Signpost, Service Fusion, Workiz, Olark, Intercom and Kickserv appeared once. Put together, ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber showed up on 234 homepages, 9.7% of the sample, which leaves 90% with none of the three.
By trade
| Trade | Sites | ServiceTitan | Housecall Pro | Jobber | GoHighLevel |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HVAC | 635 | 13.5% | 6.0% | 0.3% | 4.9% |
| Roofing | 502 | 1.4% | 0.2% | 0.2% | 8.4% |
| Plumbing | 455 | 9.2% | 5.1% | 0.9% | 4.4% |
| Landscaping | 231 | 0% | 0.4% | 2.6% | 8.2% |
| Electrical | 226 | 5.8% | 3.5% | 0.9% | 2.2% |
| General contractor | 128 | 0% | 0% | 0% | 3.9% |
| Carpentry | 117 | 0% | 0% | 0% | 2.6% |
| Painting | 113 | 0% | 0% | 0% | 4.4% |
- HVAC and plumbing are where field-service software reaches the website. ServiceTitan appeared on about one HVAC homepage in seven.
- Roofing and landscaping sites rarely show field-service software but often carry GoHighLevel, the white-label platform many marketing agencies build on. That points to agency-built sites with a chat bubble or form, rather than a booking system.
- Jobber's strongest trade on the website was landscaping, at 2.6%.
- General contractors, carpenters and painters showed almost nothing beyond GoHighLevel and a handful of scheduling links.
What it means for a contractor
Many contractors pay for software that can take online bookings and never put it in front of customers. If you run ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro or Jobber, check whether its booking page or widget is on your homepage; if it is not, the software already provides a booking link or widget you can add, with no new purchase. If you have no booking software, the cheaper fix for most small shops is making sure the phone, the door most customers use, never goes unanswered: Nova's missed-call text-back is $99 a month and its AI receptionist, $199 a month, answers by voice and books into your calendar or field-service software.
Limits
- Only homepages were checked. A booking page or chat on an inner page is not counted, so every figure is a floor.
- 35 sites flagged on the first pass did not load on the second and are counted as having no vendor.
- A widget that only loads after a click or a long delay can be missed, and a vendor whose code we did not look for is not counted.
- The sample comes from OpenStreetMap, which lists the businesses volunteers have mapped; it is large and real, but not a weighted census.
