How much does a law firm website cost?

Most answers to this question come from companies that sell law firm websites. This one separates the prices vendors actually publish from the ranges guides estimate, with the date we read each one.

The short answer

A law firm website costs whatever the builder, the vendor or the agency decides to charge, and only some of them publish it. A builder subscription costs tens of dollars a month. A law-focused design firm starts in the low thousands. A custom agency build with ongoing SEO runs into five figures plus a monthly retainer.

Read together, the guides agree on one thing: the spread is wide because the products differ. A template site where you supply the words and a custom site with written practice-area pages and monthly SEO are not the same purchase, even though both get called a law firm website.

What moves the number

  • Page count. Each practice area, location and common question is its own page, and those pages are what get found in search.
  • Who writes the content. The Modern Firm prices lawyer copywriting at about $300 a page. Writing it yourself is cheaper and slower.
  • Intake and booking. A contact form that emails you is cheap. An intake flow that qualifies the caller, books the consultation and follows up costs more and is where a site starts paying for itself.
  • Ongoing SEO. Civille puts it at $500 to $2,500 a month from a legal agency. It is often the larger cost over two or three years.
  • Who owns the site. Check whether you own the domain, the content and the site if you leave, or whether you rent them.
  • Advertising rules. Lawyer advertising rules differ by state, so check your state bar's rules on claims, testimonials and disclaimers before launch.

Where Nova fits

Nova Solutions builds law firm websites at published prices: Starter at $600 setup plus $149 a month, Growth at $1,297 plus $249 with intake and booking automation, missed-call text-back and review automation, and Pro at $1,997 plus $349. Each goes live in about seven days, and you own the site and the domain. The AI receptionist is $199 a month flat: it answers intake calls by voice at any hour and books the consultation into Clio, MyCase, Lawmatics or Smokeball. What answering services charge for the same job is in Legal answering service cost, live and AI, and every tier is on the pricing page.

Questions this post answers

How much does a law firm website cost in 2026?
Published prices run from a few hundred dollars to more than $17,500 up front. The Modern Firm lists Simple sites from $2,950, Guided from $7,500 and Custom from $17,500, and Nova Solutions lists $600 setup plus $149 a month. Guides put custom legal sites at $3,000 to $20,000 or more (a Clio article on the ABA's Law Technology Today) and a legal agency's custom site at $5,000 to $15,000 plus $500 to $2,500 a month (Civille). The guide figures are estimates.
Is $1,500 a good price for a law firm website?
It can be, for a small template site where you supply the writing. It sits between the builder subscriptions and the agency starting prices in this post. Check what the price includes: how many practice-area pages, who writes them, whether hosting and updates are covered, and whether you own the site and the domain.
What is the best website builder for a small law firm?
There is no single best one. A general builder is cheapest and you do the work. A law-focused vendor builds the practice-area pages and intake forms a firm needs. A done-for-you service such as Nova builds the site and runs intake and booking for a monthly fee. Choose on who writes the content and who keeps it current, not on the template.
How much does a solo law firm website cost?
Most solos land at the low end. Claude for Lawyers' 2026 guide, which compiles other vendors' figures, puts a solo practice at $1,000 to $6,000 up front. Nova's Starter is $600 setup plus $149 a month for a five-page site with hosting and support.
How much does a law firm website cost per month?
It depends on what the monthly covers. Nova is $149 a month for hosting and support, $249 with intake and booking automation, and Local SEO is $597 a month on top. Civille puts SEO and hosting from a legal agency at $500 to $2,500 a month, and the ABA article puts template builders at $15 to $100 or more a month.
Does a law firm website need a disclaimer?
Most firms add one, and the rules on lawyer advertising differ by state, so check your state bar's advertising rules before the site goes live. This is general information, not legal advice.
